Between listening to his Public Access stuff and being lucky enough to tag along on a summer chocked full of Ex Pats weekends; I've been digging deep into Steve Leaf's catalog a ton. Steve's songs are just drenched in influences that are very easily-recognized - from Radiohead and the Dave Matthews Band to stuff like Death Cab for Cutie and Sigur Ros.

Nick is rocking these very well-aligned, tastefully executed bass lines, and Dan is hitting some crazy fills that are difficult for even the most-talented drummers to duplicate. These guys are not only some of my favorite musicians - they're also just incredibly sweet people... and SO funny. My version of their song 'Basketball' ends with an unscripted, live, basketball commentary that pays homage to some of the Ex Pats greatest inside jokes.

This amazingly-perfect cover art was put together by mega-talent, Emma Berger. She's worked together with Gifts or Creatures, David Ramirez, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, and so many other great musicians... and she has been an illustrating idol of mine for years. Sooo cool.
